Food Poisoning

Most of us have had the experience of eating something that didn’t agree with our digestive system. If food is spoiled (contaminated with some type of bacteria), our bodies quickly react. Mild symptoms may range from nausea, malaise (flu-like), fever, mild intestinal pain and cramping to more severe symptoms of acute diarrhea and/or vomiting which can lead to dehydration and even death. Children are especially prone to dehydration – dry mouth, thirst and sleepiness may be the first signs. Seek professional medical assistance if necessary.

Try these remedies for food poisoning in children and adults to manage mild food poisoning:

  • Mix 1 tablespoon of organic Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) with ‘the mother’ in it into 8 ounces of pure water. The child or adult should drink it all.
  • Give two capsules of food grade activated charcoal with water twice a day. Note: Do not give this treatment to infants and children under the age of 6–7.
